You’re going where?

SSeattleBlog_webome chapters in one’s book of life seem to write themselves, plodding along with all the excitement of a history textbook. Others take the form of a mystery thriller, pouncing upon you when you least expect it, even though you sensed change was lurking somewhere around a distant corner.

The next chapter for Scott and me is a doozy, one we saw coming and planned for, but not now and not quite in this fashion. In short, we have sold our loft in downtown Phoenix, are frantically shoving our stuff in boxes and will be heading out May 11. Destination: Seattle … we think.

The Weminuche

5806_UteCreek_webOne of the best things about RVing is the opportunity to stay in a nice park with services one wants and needs while at the same being located in mountain paradise. This is certainly the case at Mountain Views at River’s Edge RV Resort in Creede where we spent most of our summer.

It was not unusual for us to hike for hours in solitude and be back before noon to grab groceries or to throw several loads of clothes into the wash.

Other days, we would leave the park early for a day trip’s worth of sight-seeing. Such was the case with our exploration of the area near the Weminuche Wilderness Area.

6203_SecondBalloon_webOne morning in late August, as I enjoyed my coffee, I heard a strange hissing noise. Scott had left early to go fishing, and my first thought was “oh-oh, we have some kind of leak, and I’m going to blow up the Airstream.”

Miners Creek Trail

MinersCreekOf all the trails we hiked in Creede, Miners Creek was my favorite. Just a short drive from our RV park, it was easy to get there in time to see dew still on the trees and flowers.

While we spent most of our time in Creede, we also enjoyed a few weeks in Colorado Springs. A highlight of our visit was Garden of the Gods.
