Why yes, I AM trailer trash

… And I have the duct tape to prove it!

Friends, thank you for your inquiries and good wishes regarding Bubba and his brine-shrimp RV adventure.

Let me assure you of his continued well-being, although in the spirit of transparency, I must confess that we experienced a near-tragic incident.

Upon completing our travel a few days ago, Scott carefully lifted Bubba from the cup-holder, only to find a bit of brackish water at the bottom of it. Bubba’s sphere must have sprung a leak, we thought, and indeed we found a hairline fracture around the top of the glass. We believe it may be due to the change in pressure as we moved from the low desert of Phoenix through nearly 9,000-foot mountain passes.

Nearly inconsolable at the thought of losing Bubba, I begged Scott to find a way to save him. Upon more careful inspection, Scott determined that only about an inch of water had been lost and the water level was now below the crack. Just for good measure, we applied a strip of duct tape, which according to my research is an RVer’s best friend, as it can be used for a myriad of purposes (sealing hoses, repairing broken window shades, etc.)

We’ve had three splendid nights in Eugene – trip report to follow – and Bubba has enjoyed several days of calm seas while perched on our hotel room table. Today is another travel day as we will pick up our Airstream from the dealer this afternoon and drive about 90 miles to the Oregon coast.

Jeannie – thanks so much for your kind comments on the blog. I do so love hearing from you. I – and my nails – miss you! Re: the stories, it’s almost as if they are writing themselves. I am just the lucky “channel” to be able to live them. This really is a dream life and believe me, I know how fortunate I am. Love you, friend – J.

Love the duct tape..glad you saved him. Next maybe you will need Gorilla Glue…although I don’t think it is Trailer Trash…I love it.

It’s still touch and go with Bubba’s glass sphere, but he won’t meet old King Neptune because of duct tape failure. If our trailer hitch were to fall off I’ve no doubt that I could duct tape it to the back of the truck and we could limp into town for repairs.

Gorilla Glue? Terry, you must enlighten me! I’m thinking no RV junk drawer should be without this stuff! (ha-ha!)
