Scott picked these blackberries this morning while fishing for steelhead salmon in a river 40 minutes from where we are staying. They were still warm from the morning sun and incredibly sweet and juicy.

My mind immediately turned to the possibility of baking a cobbler or crumble but decided that some things are best enjoyed in their natural state.

Knowing of my love for fresh, homegrown foods, he bought the peach and pear for me at a market just down the hill.

If there are more compelling reasons to buy local, I’m not sure what they are.

Just add a little vanilla (the real stuff) ice cream, and you have my favorite dessert!
